Setup of BrdU pulse and pulse-chase experiments and schematic drawing of Monocelis sp. In the pulse experiments, cells in S-phase were labelled in situ at nine different time intervals after amputation. Animals were fixed directly after labelling. In pulse-chase experiments, S-phase cells were labelled before amputation, were allowed to migrate and differentiate for five different time periods and were then fixed. The schematic shows an adult specimen (anterior to the left).
