Schematic overview over gene expression of MMFs in the dorsal segmental units of the millipede Glomeris marginata. Dally is co-expressed with hh, en and ptc. ptc is expressed on either side of en/hh/dally. Posteriorly, ptc is co-expressed with sFRP125 that may interact with the binding of Hh to Ptc. Anteriorly, ptc is co-expressed with dlp and shf, possibly interacting with Hh. Either of the three MMFs, dlp, shf and sFRP125 could serve to break the possible symmetry of Hh-signalling.
