Comparison of whole body regeneration (WBR) surgeries between Botryllus schlosseri and Botrylloides diegensis. A Darkfield image of B. schlosseri after surgery. Ten zooids were excised, and blood circulation remained strong throughout vasculature. B After 3 days, blood continued to flow, and vasculature had rearranged within the tunic. C After 12 days, blood flow had stopped, and the vasculature showed increased pigmentation. No sign of WBR, and vessel migration had ceased. D Darkfield image of Botrylloides diegensis after surgery.
